Michael Schmitt graduated from Douglas High School in 1990. He obtained his Arizona Class A CDL with all endorsements at age 18. He attended junior college with his major course of studies focusing on middle management. In 1992, he obtained a certificate in Diesel Technology from Mesa Community College.
During his 23 years in the transportation industry, he has worked as a diesel mechanic, route driver and a transportation manager. He has also had experience as an owner/operator. During this time he has received awards for, Driver of the Year, 212 Degrees of Service, Riding for the Brand, Behind the Scenes, and numerous awards and recognitions for outstanding customer service. In 2012 while representing the McLane Foodservice Distribution team he took 1st place at the Arizona Trucking Association’s Truck Driving Championship in the five axle sleeper birth tractor semi-trailer category.
In 2005 he received his Arizona contractor’s license and also obtained qualifying party status for a GB98 license for the state of New Mexico. He started as transportation coordinator for the Coolidge Unified School District #21 in June 2012 and was promoted to Director of Plant Operations in 2013. He has resided in the Coolidge area for the past 13 years with his wife Nicole and their four children, who all either currently attend or have graduated from Coolidge Unified School District #21.
